[Amazon Fundraising Update] Building our way to the Amazon. Literally...

During the half-term I managed to get some fundraising work doing some construction jobs. It was a new challenge for me. At first I really didn't know what i was getting my self into, but like many things in life you just have to go with the flow and within the next 15 mins i was enjoying it, climbing up ladders, moving tiles left, right and center, balancing along scaffolding and trying to move gargatuan blocks into gaps too small to think would be possible to fit through. But I learned with a bit of care and prior mental planning you can put your mind to most 'impossible tasks . Doing construction work honestly was brought me back to the good ol days of primary school days where i was swinging on monkey bars, balancing and climbing fences like a maniac.
I learned quite a few things from it - construction work is 20% fixing and building and 80% moving materials and equipment. If you are doing it be prepared to spend a lot of time just moving tiles and what not from one side of the room to another. But whatever you do, dont put your back out, and carry more than you are comfortable with. However, a good day of construction work will save yourself money on gym and if you do it for long enough could develop your grip like a gorrila! Or Howler Monkey for the Amazon's sake. Remebering safety first of course, gloves are essential as nails and splints of wood will be prevalent in the construction industry. Oh and finally always look above when ducking under bars...i learned the hard away and it hurts!
I would like thank you to Paul for giving me the opportunity to help build your house. I gained a lot from it and definitively livened the fundraising up during the holidays.
