Last week Tom and I organised and ran a raffle after the celebration bbq to congratulate Teighnbridge District Scouts completing the Ten Tors Challenge (well done to all Teignbridge scouts who participated in the event, you did a cracking job!)

As often the case, it has proven somewhat a little difficult at times to collect raffle prizes from various companies due to new regulations which has made it harder for buisnesses (especially chain stores) to donate raffle prizes, but it all managed to come together in the week running up to the event (thank god ^^).

We learned that its best to stick to local and regional buisneses and avoid the chain firms. Independant shops we found were the most supportive in regards to donating raffle prizes.

Overall, thanks to all the parents and leaders, we raised £115 towards our fundraising efforts to head to the Amazon. So really, THANKYOU!!.

Tom and I would like to make special thank you to the following who kindly contributed raffle prizes:

> Newton Abbot Racecourse

> Hunts Cider

> Hunters Brewery

> Paignton zoo

> Fermoys Garden Centre

....and finally thank you Dad for teaching us the ropes. I honestly didn't realise how much effort was needed to organise and carry out a raffle, so i am grateful I had your support.

Whilst the chief aim of the raffle was to raise funds, it was also to promote awareness of adventurous and challenging things young adults (+18) can do after completing the Ten Tors Challenge events as many people our age, after completing the TT 55 mile challenge stop their pursuit for adventure, unaware of the amazing expedition opportunities that are available. So we advocate any +18 year olds that have finished the Ten Tors to not think its the end. Whilst Ten Tors sets the solid foundations for future outdoor adventures, it really is only the beginning.

Any questions on how we organised the raffle, don't hesitate to get in touch.

Tom and Harry
